The IODE Programme has a long tradition in organizing training activities for participating data centres and information centres. Since the late 1990s such training is organized within te framework of regional projects called "Ocean Data and Information Networks" (ODINs) . Below you can see a global map of ongoing ODIN projects.
The OceanDataPortal project is committed to promote and ensure the full participation of all IOC Member States in the project, including developing countries. It is for this reason that training on the development of national Ocean Data Protal provider nodes is now included in the training programme of IODE.
As from the year 2007 the OceanTeacher Academy project has started organizing regional courses on the establishment of ODP data provider nodes.
The following courses have been organized:
Training on the management of the End-To-End Management prototype system, 22-25 October 2007, IOC Project Office for IODE, Oostende, Belgium (Read more )
- Training Course on the Establishment of National OceanDataPortal nodes in the Black Sea region (ODINBlackSea) , 20-21 March 2009, Obninsk, Russian Federation, (Readmore )
- IOC/WESTPAC Training Course for IODE Ocean Data Protal data providers, 31 August - 4 September 2009, Seoul, Republic of Korea. (read more )
Courses in other regions will be planned in response from the IOC Member States in these regions. Such requests can be addressed to the relevant ODIN regional coordinator and/or the IODE Secretariat (
). Courses can be organized at the IOC Project Office for IODE (Oostende, Belgium) or can be organized in a Member State.
